No more 'dodgies', but watch out for HOOTs
Sad to say, the Dodgy Dossier series has come to an end (no doubt to the great relief of Barton Willmore, who have been visiting this page almost daily). This is not because we can find no more omissions, inconsistencies, and errors in the application documents raining down on Cofferidge Close like so much litter- far from it - but we feel it's become rather cruel, like shooting fish in a barrel...
>> Scroll down the RH column to read the 25 'dodgies' posted in January >>>>>>>>>>>>> As from Jan 28th, we start a new daily series - of HOOTs - quotes from the many letters of objection from local residents to be found on the MKC Public Access website. >> Click here for HOOTs |

Those pesky trees getting in the way again
Some revealing quotes below from page 3 of the Consultation Response, by CMK Landscape Services Manager (Trees) on the applicant's tree survey... "The survey does contain a few errors; the Cedar is not the cultivar ‘Glauca’; the London Plane is correctly known as Platanus x acerifolia and it is not rare as an urban tree in this country; and I am sure the common names of the wild pear do not include ‘apple blossom cherry’. I only mention these errors as they raise a little concern as to the accuracy of the submitted information generally..." But isn't he putting the development cart before the arboricultural horse when he continues "…but as the proposed layout of the new building, which has considered and retained the very best trees and a fraction of the good trees, is the main driver behind the choice of which trees will go and which are retained, the finer details of the tree survey may not make too much difference to the ultimate outcome"? One might be excused for believing that the conservation of good trees should be the driver of the proposed layout! But, earlier on the same page: "...unfortunately most of these [fruit trees in the old Orchard] are well within the foot print of the proposed building or car parking area and could not be retained without considerable re-design of the proposed layout." So what? What's so sacred about the proposed layout? If a considerable re-design is required, then let's have one! Jan 24th: Dodgy Dossier No 24
